American Life Music Council (ALMC) is a national coalition of healthcare providers dedicated to furthering the value, integration and deployment of music for those facing life challenges and coping with loss, illness, injury, disability, disorders, aging or end of life issues through a person-centered approach to integrated care.

What is life music care?

Life Music Care™ (LMC) is the process of integrating an individual’s personal music listening preferences with a custom wellness plan geared to promote integrative wellness goals.

Who provides life music care?

Life Music Care™ (LMC) certified provider programs are offered through a national coalition of senior care professionals who may hold various types of professional designations such as:

  • Art Instructors & Therapists

How is life music care paid for?

Life Music Care™ (LMC) certified provided program service fees and payment options may vary among providers and should be discussed with your coach prior to retaining service.

How does life music care work?

Music has the ability to provide a variety of benefits to various listeners who often make music listening part of their daily routine. For many people, listening to music they select, enjoy and control in the comfort of their own environment can help them achieve a variety of wellness benefits that may provide therapeutic recall effect.

What is therapeutic recall effect?

Therapeutic Recall Effect™ (TRE) refers to music that plays in your mind from memorable melodies that create the same benefiting effect that occurred when the listener was physically listening to the music. For example, while driving in typically stressful traffic, an individual could remember a song they heard in the past that made them feel calm and relaxed, and then feel that way again from simply remembering the song.

How does life music care differ from music therapy?

  • Life Music Care™ (LMC) is the process of integrating an individuals personal music listening preferences with a custom wellness plan geared to promote an individuals personal wellness goals facilitated by a Life Music Coach™;


  • Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. RE: American Music Therapy Association.
